Monster, Mongrel or Mix?

Monster, Mongrel or Mix?

It isn’t that Valdric is a mutt – he isn’t. But he isn’t a zombie and he isn’t a vampire. He isn’t a human and he isn’t an alien. He is something brand new.  Zombyre.

The definition of a monster is any human or animal grotesquely deviating from the normal shape, behavior, or character. Valdric is far from normal. Having been turned as a vampire in 1490, he’s lived a while. And then, just when he wants to help end the Ten Year War that is destroying Earth by giving himself over to the bad guys, a good meaning human traps Valdric with comet metal thumb cuffs. Deadly. Then tosses him in the bowels of the Carpathian Mountains. Valdric’s selfless act is far more heroic than deviant. The definition for hero? A man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

But Valdric is definitely dead. He is gorgeous, but doesn’t breathe. He is strong, and now he’s beginning to feel human emotion, which has been denied him for centuries. He can walk in the sun, he has quick reflexes but slow understanding of the female human mind. He’s just a guy who wants to save the world, sure, because he promised an alien prince he’d do it, but he’s discovering love. And maybe, he wants someone to share his life with.

A hero, with a little monster thrown in for flavor J

You do, too? I had one editor turn me down in the concept stage because they only wanted regular characters…no messing with tradition, lol – how are you, Ann?
